Our new calendar for 2012, Moog Pioneers in the Studio, features 12 stunning and inspiring images featuring the pioneers of electronic music and features forwards from BMF Executive Director Michelle Moog-Koussa and Historian Brian Kehew.

Bob was dedicated to the needs of musicians and composers. In this calendar, we highlight and honor 12 of those people whose names may be more obscure, but whose pioneering and varied work helped broaden Bob’s own understanding of the potential capabilities of the synthesizer.

Our inspiration for this year’s calendar springs from the work we have been doing to preserve and transfer the reel-to-reel tapes in Bob’s archives. Many of these tapes were created by the gentlemen seen on these pages—an incredible group of pioneers who were forging new territory in sound. The power of Bob’s extensive archives has the ability to inform people of the little known but rich history of electronic music. The goal of this calendar is to do just that.
