In addition to the modular system, the first-place winner will receive a signed copy of the Bjooks publication, Push, Turn, Move by Kim Bjørn. Chris Meyer, who curated and assembled the system, will also grant the winner free access to his Learning Modular online courses, and Luigi’s Modular Supply is providing the patch cables for the system.

“The theme for this year’s system is: ‘What would Bob do?’” explains Meyer. “His interest in expressive controllers, from theremins to percussion and ribbon interfaces, inspired a system designed for rich, multi-voice performance and deep creative exploration.”

The raffle features a second-place prize, an Expressive E Osmose MPE synthesizer valued at $1,799, and a third-place prize, an Expressive E Noisy 2 software synthesizer valued at $149.

“We are excited to offer this one-of-a-kind Eurorack system, which celebrates Bob’s legacy of innovation while supporting our work through Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, and the Moogseum,” said Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation. “We are grateful to the international community of manufacturers who donated modules and components to help create a system that reflects Bob’s lifelong commitment to advancing expressive synthesis.”

FIRST PLACE PRIZE:

ABOUT THE EURORACK SYSTEM: FIRST PLACE PRIZE

Curated by modular synthesizer expert and educator Chris Meyer, the system includes a wide range of alternative peripheral controllers that make it possible to interact with and shape sound in remarkably varied and expressive ways. Controller components include a Heart Sensing Module by ADDAC System, the Gliss Touch Control by Bela IO, Axe and Razor ribbon controllers by Biopower Audio, twin Theremin CV sources from Doepfer, a Touché hand controller by Expressive E, two percussive foot triggers by Kat Percussion, an FS-6 Dual Footswitch by Roland, and a Roli Seaboard 2.

The specific components included are:

SECOND PLACE PRIZE: OSMOSE FROM EXPRESSIVE E

ABOUT THE SECOND PLACE PRIZE:

Osmose is the ultimate expressive synthesizer. Redefining musical expressivity, the Osmose sets the new benchmark. Powered by the EaganMatrix engine, it offers the full expressive experience, as a standalone synthesizer or the most advanced MPE controller. Press, bend, shake, strum, and more to play keyboards and electronic sounds with a natural, unique organic feel.

THIRD PLACE PRIZE: NOISY 2 SOFTWARE PACKAGE FROM EXPRESSIVE E

ABOUT THE THIRD PLACE PRIZE:

Noisy 2 merges acoustic and analog resonators into lively sounds. Built for MPE and expression, this software makes sound design more fun. Noisy 2 uses noise to excite analog and acoustic resonators, creating original textures. Two independent layers form each Noisy 2 preset.

ABOUT CHRIS MEYER:

The Eurorack system being raffled was curated by vector synthesis pioneer and modular synthesis educator Chris Meyer.

Chris Meyer has led three lives in the music industry: creating electronic music instruments and tools for companies like Sequential, Digidesign, and Roland; teaching electronic music synthesis through numerous magazine articles, online courses, and his website LearningModular.com; and now performing his own unique vision of emotional, impressionistic electronic music under the name Alias Zone. Chris is also the co-author of the acclaimed Patch & Tweak: Exploring Modular Synthesis with Kim Bjørn.
