Rick Wakeman is one of the most influential keyboardists of the 20th century thanks to a career that spans London session work in the late 1960s accompanying David Bowie, Elton John, Black Sabbath, and many other greats, to becoming a defining voice in the progressive rock genre as a keyboardist for Yes. During his time with Yes, Wakeman helped shape their hit album Fragile and the successful follow-up Close to the Edge. Wakeman would go on to record acclaimed solo material, compose film scores and musicals, and perform classical, religious, and progressive-rock-inspired music.
This photo was taken by Polish teacher and photographer Marek Hofman, whose work focuses primarily on portraits of musicians and concerts. Hofman has photographed such legends as Jack Bruce, Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, Bryan Ferry, John Fogerty, Alan Parsons, Robert Plant, and Patti Smith. Many of Hofman's photographs have appeared in Polish and international music magazines, including Guitar and Bass, Billboard, and Rolling Stone.
